Why massage doesn’t work

In 1993 I was out to save the world, one massage at a time.  It was a noble effort but one as naive as I was at the time.  Early in my career my massage therapy clients were returning week after week with the recurring symptoms and pain, and that didn’t work for me or match my vision.  What I found is massage doesn’t get to the source of pain.  Period.  No one hands on technique or exercise alleviates pain permanently.  It can’t. And practitioners know this the more they learn functional anatomy of the body and how pain patterns persist.

With a pressing need to create change, I consolidated my knowledge and training and added other elements of my knowledge of the body into my practice.  Things like dance and movement, orthopedics and biomechanics, yoga and posture, strength and resistance exercise, and all the hands on techniques I could get my hands on, so to speak.

What became apparent was there are three distinct components that need to be implemented in order to alleviate pain and prevent it from returning:

A comprehensive range of skillful hands on work, repatterning and alignment of compensation patterns and intrinsic strengthening.  It was this combination that birthed The Schatz Method.

Bottom line: No one should be walking around in pain.  It’s ridiculous.

Is your goal to reach a pain free experience, an attractive physical contour and confidence as you make your way through the day?

Me too.  I’ve got your back 😉
