Radio Silence + Freedom Tour

I’ve been radio silent for a while.  There are some years that life feels really big – this has been one of those years for me.

Half way through this year, on my birthday, I tossed my pup Rumi into a rental car and started driving west.  We ventured out on an epic cross country road trip – dubbed the Freedom Tour.  We traveled down nostalgic   Route 662014-07-07-14.27.38-1024x576 for two weeks after seeing fireworks in the middle of Chicago and then visited 11 cities in 15 days.  We slept in 5 star hotels and the middle of nowhere OK, toured a real-deal organic farm outside of Chicago (tip of the hat to you Creekside Natural Farm, my deep respect for what you are doing), initiated ourselves under the arch in St. Louis, meditated in the sculpture gardens of Sante Fe and walked the breathtaking trails of Sedona. We stopped driving when we reached the Pacific.  Once in CA, the exploration continued and I found myself sipping cool drinks oceanside and hiking the Canyons of LA.   Check out my Instagram for some photos of our trip.

What began as a summer adventure became living in southern CA for 3 months.  Now that’s an adventure! During my time in LA, I revamped my professional training program, rebranded my product to something that is oh-so-me #chooseoptimal, made great new friends, started tweeting & Instagram-ing (thought that would never happen – thanks Mary @paleochef & Angela @angengland), established a bi-coastal practice (tri coastal really, lookin’ at you CLE), hung out back stage with rock stars, created a virtual VIP optimal bodywork program for those on opposite coasts from me (of course), had a professional photo shoot on the beaches of CA with my favored photographer, reunited with family I haven’t seen in years and am about to launch a new website.  The best part is I felt like I was on vacation the whole time.

I returned to NYC in the typical east coast fashion of hitting the ground running and reunited with my clients, my friends, my apartment and my city.  And yes, we are still in love.

Now I’m in CLE for my quarterly week of teaching and private sessions.  (Will I be seeing you?)

Beyond the details of the trip, the idea of taking off without a real agenda was met with high fives and wrinkled brows from others who could not fathom what I was doing.

Would you leave everything and start driving in a direction toward your bliss?  If not, – why-?

I was admittedly in question at times too.  Especially when my spiritual adviser said “You’re right on time.  This is exactly where you are supposed to be in life.” Followed by my business adviser who instructed “Refrain from working on this trip.  You know how to do that.  It’s time to take time to decide what you want to do which is different than what you think you are supposed to want to do.  Go find out the difference between them for you.”

This summer’s trip-turned-wild-adventure was one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself.  I can’t wait to share the details of my Freedom Tour and the takeaways, insights and hugely fun moments.  In the meantime, what did you do this summer to follow YOUR bliss?

In optimal health,
